Get Involved!

The Living Classroom Program is looking for volunteers to deliver garden-based lessons to K-8 classes in the Los Altos School District, and K-3 classes in the Mountain View Whisman School District.

Then you should consider becoming a Volunteer Docent in LASD’s Living Classrooms!

Training:

  • Volunteer Docents attend scheduled training sessions to learn the curriculum and relevant lesson delivery techniques.
  • New Docents gain experience by observing and assisting more experienced Docents in the classroom as they teach Living Classroom lessons.

Time Commitment:

Docents are asked for a minimum commitment of 3 lessons per month on average equating to about 5 hours of total time per month.

Experience:

  • No teaching experience necessary.
  • No gardening skills required.
  • No science background needed.
